Mt. Medvednica is situated in the immediate vicinity of Zagreb downtown. It is protected as a Nature park and covered with beautiful natural forests. This is a favorite recreational area of Zagreb ‘s citizens, and you can reach it by car as well as public transportation. The cable car can take you to its 1035 m high peak Sljeme. On Mt. Medvednica there are numerous hiking trails and climbers’ lodgings, several historical sites, interesting caves, an old mine and other attractions. If you are staying in Zagreb longer, you should not miss to visit Medvednica, and if you are just passing by you can spend there a relaxing morning or afternoon in the shade of the trees.
